Survive the Holidays with Sweet Advice from Baskin-Robbins and Etiquette Expert, Elaine Swann

Here at Baskin-Robbins, we understand that the holidays can be hard. Between awkward conversations about politics, careers and family, we know everyone just wants to get to dessert -- after all, it’s the best part of the meal! In honor of this, Baskin-Robbins hosted a Friendsgiving and invited celebrity etiquette expert, Elaine Swann, to host and coach us all on how to handle those awkward moments like a pro.

Elaine has more than a decade of etiquette research, study, and training and coaches businesses and individuals on the art of modern manners for today’s society. Check out her top 4 tips and tricks for surviving the holidays:

  1. Mind your RSVPs. You should always RSVP to holiday party invites, it helps you keep track of your holiday festivities and is a basic courtesy to the host whether or not you can make it.
  2. Reconsider going "live." Don't make others the star of your live videos without their permission. Make sure you ask first before you add those to your live videos or stories, especially if you're invited to someone's home.
  3. Re-gifting is OK. If you’re going to re-gift always 1) ensure the item is in mint condition 2) repackaging is a must and 3) never re-gift an item within the same circle it came from.
  4. No matter what, don’t forget to bring a Baskin-Robbins holiday cake or dessert with you.
